What companies use the metaverse?
The concept of the metaverse is still relatively new and evolving, and while there are no companies that have fully realized a complete metaverse, there are several companies that are working on building or exploring virtual worlds and platforms that could be part of the future metaverse. Some examples of companies involved in the metaverse or related areas include:
Facebook – Facebook has been investing heavily in virtual reality and has rebranded itself as Meta to reflect its focus on building the metaverse. The company has also created its virtual reality platform, Horizon Workrooms, which allows remote workers to collaborate in a virtual environment.
Roblox – Roblox is a popular gaming platform that allows users to create and play their own games. The platform has over 200 million monthly active users and is considered by some to be a precursor to the metaverse.
Decentraland – Decentraland is a blockchain-based virtual world where users can buy and sell virtual land and create and monetize their virtual experiences.
Epic Games – Epic Games is the creator of Fortnite, a massively popular multiplayer game that has expanded beyond gaming to include concerts and other virtual events.
Microsoft – Microsoft has been exploring the metaverse through its mixed reality platform, Microsoft Mesh, which allows users to collaborate and interact in a virtual environment.
NVIDIA – NVIDIA is a graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer that has been investing in creating technology that can power the metaverse’s high-quality graphics and visual experiences.
These are just a few examples of the companies involved in building or exploring the metaverse. As the concept continues to evolve, it is likely that more companies will become involved in this area of technology.
