Manchester is about to embrace digital versions of its beloved footballers in a significant sports metaverse push with OKX.
The world’s second-biggest cryptocurrency exchange announced its partnership with Manchester City Football Club legends on Thursday. The OKX Collective metaverse features stars like Alex Greenwood, Rúben Dias, Jack Grealish, and Ilkay Gündoğan.
The Collective provides sports metaverse spaces for personal Web3 encounters, including custom rewards, content, and more. Each player will showcase content tailored to their playing style and interests, like music, training, and NFTs.
OKX first became Manchester City’s official training kit partner for the 2022-2023 season. According to OKX’s Chief Marketing Officer, Haider Rafique, OKX aims to showcase Web3’s limitless possibilities by introducing footballers to its new metaverse. He added that Web3 holds the potential to surpass all that came before, and the Collective offers just a glimpse of its incredible experiences.
Feedback on the Manchester City Metaverse Experience
Haider Rafique, OKX’s Global CMO, shared with XR Today how OKX brought Manchester City to life in a virtual world. He said OKX teamed with metaverse developers to construct a suitable environment to showcase the varied and exciting activities planned. He also emphasized the importance of creating an enjoyable and interactive experience for fans with the new technology.
Haider Rafique aims to attract football fans and metaverse enthusiasts. The goal is to provide a thrilling experience in Web3 technology. He stated the objective is to establish a community via OKX Collective, providing members with unique content, rewards, and experiences.
After sealing a deal with the world’s sixth most valuable football team in March 2022, OKX’s efforts to build a community through the Collective have begun. OKX is a giant in the cryptocurrency space, ranking second in trading volume with 24-hour transactions reaching $20 billion, according to exchange trackers.
Data from Coin Market Cap shows that OKX currently holds $8.1 billion in total assets.
