Priceline

Booking Holdings subsidiary Priceline intends to introduce an advanced trip-planning chatbot. The trailblazing digital travel platform also aims to provide hotel suggestions that resemble a personalized concierge service, catering specifically to individual users. CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Martin Brodbeck made this known in a conversation with Reuters.

Priceline Partners with Google

Priceline will partner with and leverage Google’s new tools offered by its cloud division. Incorporating these tools grants them access to generative AI capabilities similar to ChatGPT technology. These tools enable them to generate text that mimics human writing. Furthermore, it will extract information from existing data to ensure accuracy.

Competes with Rivals

Priceline aims to compete with various travel platforms by adopting innovative technology on its official website. This approach allows Priceline to explore how users respond to Artificial intelligence (AI), improving its chances of attracting customers. In contrast, its competitor Expedia Group plans to utilize ChatGPT to facilitate conversations on users’ smartphone apps. This feature will provide travelers with booking options and destination recommendations, as explained by Rathi Murthy, the chief technology officer of Expedia Group.

Kayak and Expedia, a Booking Holdings-owned website, have incorporated their travel recommendations using features within the ChatGPT program alone.

According to Brodbeck, despite competing with Priceline, Google’s cloud capabilities were the primary reason for their partnership.

Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud CEO, highlighted that Google’s pioneering generative AI for building applications attracted recent business.

Kurian declined to disclose how the availability of free official previews was impacting the profitability of Google Cloud.

According to Brodbeck, Google’s AI will provide coding suggestions to numerous software developers at Priceline. Nevertheless, Priceline will utilize Google’s search capabilities for their employee intranets. Google’s AI will quicken marketing efforts in trending travel destinations.

This partnership will be beneficial in the long run.
