The legendary Dubai World Cup, organized by the Dubai Racing Club aka DRC at Meydan, will now take place in the metaverse, the organization has revealed.

On January 15, the DRC unveiled the Dubai Verse Cup aka DVC, a virtual reality horse racing game platform that enables participants to enjoy the thrill of the races using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality gadgets.

Players will be able to invest in digital assets, like NFTs of the horses, and profit from the performance of these investments by receiving tokens by which the metaverse platform is anticipated to generate new revenue streams for the DRC.

Along with that, the club will be able to monetize the platform through advertising and sponsorship deals.

This new platform will be fueled by actual thoroughbred racing and is being created in collaboration with the DRC’s official technology partner, DVCC Meta Technology.

According to Vincent Shi, CEO of DVCC Meta Technology, the platform makes use of blockchain and a play-to-earn business model to give consumers an immersive and participatory experience at the Meydan Racecourse.

The Dubai Racing Club (DRC) is hoping that the introduction of the Dubai Verse Cup would bring a new generation of equestrian fans who might be intrigued by the immersive experience of the metaverse.

DRC Chairman Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmook said: “Dubai is a technologically advanced city that places a strong focus on innovation. One of its kind is metaverse horse racing game, the Dubai Verse Cup, based on the Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse. DRC is eager to adopt the vision and philosophy for this beautiful city, and we are constantly looking for new ways to improve the racing fan experience.”

The introduction of the Dubai Verse Cup by the DRC is a significant advance in the use of the metaverse in particular for horse racing. A thrilling move that might completely alter how fans of horse racing perceive the sport.

A public beta version of the metaverse game will shortly be made accessible for testing before the game is fully released.
