Neal Mohan is the new CEO of YouTube

Following the exit of Susan Wojcicki from the company, YouTube approved Neal Mohan as its new CEO. Deciding to concentrate on a new phase by focusing on her personal projects, health, and family, Wojcicki stepped down from the company on February 16. Wojcicki has been working on YouTube since 2013. While there, she supervised the critical establishment of the revenue-sharing model, among other projects. However, she will continue as an advisor of Alphabet – the parent company of Google. Lauding the community, Wojcicki said it’s been an honor to serve the company.

Mohan, before becoming the new chief executive officer, was the chief product officer of YouTube. He introduced YouTube Shorts to contend with YouTube Music and TikTok, removing the controversial video dislike button.

Mohan is pro-web 3

Mohan has always been a fan of web 3. Speaking on Web 3, Mohan highlighted temporary plans in February 2022 to introduce several additional features to include non-fungible tokens (NFT) to enable new ways for creators to attract fans plus develop extra revenues.

In a blog post by Mohan in February 2022, he noted that Web 3 unlocks various possibilities for creators. He said he believes new technologies like blockchain and NFTs will enable the creators and audiences to form deeper connections. He added that they could work together on new projects to make money on things they considered impossible.

The intentions to potentially start the plans last year are yet to be seen, but due to Mohan heading the firm, there could be a push for it later on.

Since Mohan became the new YouTube CEO, FUD has surprisingly reduced, especially from the NFT skeptics on Twitter, that is quick to pounce on anything that has to do with tech reports.
