HTC VIVE tracker sells for $129.99 on the website

HTC VIVE has announced the addition of an unnamed self-tracking device to its range of VR-tracking equipment. HTC VIVE Focus 3 and HTC VIVE XR Elite will both make use of this new device. The device boasts three components that allow it to operate without a base station:

  • An onboard mainframe
  • Two high-line-of-sight cameras
  • A high-exact directional tracking algorithm

According to HTC‘s report, the new device weighs less than 100 grams. Additionally, it is roughly 50% smaller than the third version of the VIVE Tracker. The company has also released a new tool that allows for instant purchases. Additionally, users can add a modern speaker and an edge camera to the device with the help of 3D CAD files for printing their props.

Designers will be able to use the VIVE Focus 3 and XR Elite as private detectives, and the headsets can work as non-VIVE headsets with the aid of OpenXR. The company has stated that information about standalone nonavailability will be published soon, which will be helpful for those who are not into in the R functionality.

VIVE tracker not reliant on exterior detectors

Shen Ye, the global head of products at HTC VIVE, said that the latest tracker, like headsets, can uncover locations precisely without relying on exterior detectors or headset cameras. He also said it’s for more than just item searching. It will connect to the other five buttons by revealing the user’s entire body comprising the elbows, legs, and feet on their forthcoming USB-C dongle.

The precise release date of the new device is not out yet. However, the company will reveal more details in the coming months. Nonetheless, users can get the device for $129.9 on the website. With the upcoming launch of this innovative self-tracking device, HTC VIVE can solidify its position as a leading player in the VR industry.
